Gifting to people is a good way to get them back. You might want to keep a list of you who gift to and who gifts back. Sometimes requesting specific gifts in your status can get a nice flood. Normally – If I get trees, i plant them. If i get animals i sell them for the extra money boost (Small as it may be). You should always try and gift the highest thing you can since they almost always give the best return (Unless someone requests one)

Gifts are also randomly received from doing achievements, and although (Like regular gifts) you do not receive Exp from planting/placing them, they can be sold. Sometimes its best to keep them for future Achievements.

Animals are a pain. They take up space and they do not give very much money daily. A Single apple tree is better than 2/3 of the buy-able animals, and draws with the last. Sheep cost 700 coins. In theory, you can buy 2 apple trees and then gain twice as much as you would from 1 sheep! Trees are much better than sheep – it appears.

However, if you find the animals or they are gifted – you may as well! I would suggest not letting them wander…

Also, helping animals that wander onto your farm can give you a small amount of money. But it is up to you.

You can plow, seed, and harvest one plot at a time by default; however, if you purchase farm equipment you can then do each 4 at a time. The only draw back is they require fuel. Your allotted only a maximum amount of fuel. Currently that amount is 150. This means you can plow 150 squares or seed 150 squares or harvest 150 squares. Your fuel is then replenished at the rate 1 per 2 minutes.

Each piece of equipment costs 30,000 coins.

You can buy the Tractor(plows) at level 12 it comes in 2 colors red and pink.

You can buy the Harvester at level 13.

You can buy the Seeder at level 14.

Recently to help consolidate their properties zynga as added crossover items. 3 of these are farm equipment. The tractor, Havester, and Seeder can do 9 square with each click(3X3 area). To get access to these you have to reach a certain level in mafia wars

Flowers in Farmville are just like any other crop. You sell them, gain XP for growing them and can master them by growing enough of them. But in addition while harvesting there is a chance that you will pick a perfect bunch. If you have a Garden Shed that perfect bunch will be available to use as decorations for your Farm(They last 14 days after you use them not from the point at which you find them.). You can also choose to share them with your friends. You set how many you want to share and then post a note to your news feed. Anybody who clicks on it will get an arrangement for their farm. The Garden Shed can be purchased from the store. You can only have a single Garden shed which has a store amount of 30 bunches. These bunches can be any mix of available flowers but you can only store 30

date

If you visit a neighbor or friends farm you are given the option to help out around the farm. This can be scaring off pets or raking leaves or many other things. If you do this you will be rewarded with some coins and XP. IF that person has crops which are still growing(IE can't be ready to harvest yet.) you will be given the option of fertilizing up to 5 crops. By doing so their crops will grow bigger than normal and they will also get XP when they harvest them. You'll get additional points towards a ribbon for fertilizing.

date

For harvesting you can simply use the multi-tool and click on each square which is ready to harvest. You can also by the Harvester which can harvest 4 squares at a time.

You can also use the multi-tool to harvest individual animals and trees.

A milk barn is available which you can add up to 20 cows. You can click on this single barn and harvest all 20 cows at once.

A chicken coop is available which allows you to keep 20 chickens. You can click on this single coop and harvest all 20 chickens at once.

date

You can either chose the multi-tool and click on any piece of plowed land which will then pop up the market where you will need to select the type of seed you want to plant. Then it will plant that type of seed on that open plowed area. Once you do this you can then keep clicking on plowed areas and planting the same type of seed.

You can also start planting by clicking on the marketplace and then selecting a type of seeds. Then clicking on any open piece of plowed land.

It's very important to choose which type of seed you want to plant by your ability to get back in time to harvest it. Just because you can make the most money early on by doing strawberries doesn't mean you will. Strawberries have to be picked every 4 hours. If you fail to get back to them before they go bad you'll be out the money for plowing and the seeds.

date

Plowing gains 1 XP regardless of what you plant any unused piece of ground can be used.

Unlike farm town your neighbors and friends cannot help you plow.

Using a tractor allows you to plow larger swathes of land. However they require fuel and fuel can only be purchased with cash not coins or you can wait for it to refill. It refills at the rate of one per 2 minutes. Each fuel unit allows you to do one thing to one square of grown.(Plow, Harvest, or Seed)

If you build a fence around yourself your character won't walk to the different squares and will plow much quicker. But a better tip is to watch where your character pops up on the screen. At that point put 4 hay bales around him/her. This will make it so your character can't move. This cuts down on the time spent walking from one square to the next.
